He continued to work as an attorney as well as serving as consultant, president of the Author’s Guild, and on several legal commissions. He and his wife split their time between Chicago and Florida.

Suspect, September 1, 2022

In Suspect, a reformed problem child named Pinky is working for private investigator Rik. They are hired by none other than the Chief of the Chicago P.D.—Lucia Gomez, extremely well-liked, more than capable, and Rik’s childhood friend. Lucia is being smeared as a lawsuit alleges she demanded sex from subordinates in exchange for promotions; two cops in the suit make sense, clearly serving as henchmen for an old vendetta, but the third seems a good and honest man. Fueled by instinct and ambition, Pinky dives in—but once among that maelstrom of corruption, will she be able to surface?

Pinky’s favorites are Stella Artois and pork rinds.

Our own Rogue LISA BLACK is a native Clevelander transplanted to Florida and a 25+ year veteran of forensic work. She has published sixteen investigative procedurals, but still hasn’t quit the day job, working full time as a Forensic Specialist for her local police department where she is a Certified Latent Print Examiner and a Certified Crime Scene Analyst.

Red Flags, July 26, 2022

In this first book of a new series, DC crime scene analyst Dr. Ellie Carr responds to a suspicious kidnapping and is shocked to find that the child’s mother is her own cousin. Once like a sister, Rebecca and her wealthy lobbyist husband, Hunter, have been living a charmed life—until their infant son is taken. Dr. Rachael Davies, assistant dean at the prestigious Locard Forensic Institute, is employed by Hunter to help links to his gaming empire lobbying surface. Though at first Ellie feels more competitive than cooperative, she and Rachael must piece together the evidence before Rebecca’s son—and others like him—disappear forever. Lisa’s favorite snack is—hands down—mint chocolate chip ice cream. Or vanilla with Ghirardelli chocolate chips. Or cherry. Usually paired with hot tea, but when pairing isn’t necessary, then vodka and Fresca. Or a hot chocolate martini (see recipe below).

WILLIAM KENT KRUGER used to write every morning at the St. Clair Broiler café before heading off to the day job, working to help support his family of a college-sweetheart wife and their children. Since then his bestsellers have won the Minnesota Book Award, the Loft-McKnight Fiction Award, the Anthony Award, the Barry Award, the Dilys Award, and the Friends of American Writers Prize. This Tender Land spent nearly six months on the NYT bestseller list.

Fox Creek, August 23, 2022

Cork O’Connor’s desperate task is to identify the motives of the mercenaries who have invaded Crow Point, their target, a visiting woman—as Cork’s wife is guiding the woman to visit healer Henry Meloux. Henry’s plans for a peaceful last journey through his beautiful and beloved wilderness is interrupted by these visitors and their ruthless pursuers. As he tries to keep the two women safe, Cork must battle both a fierce snowstorm and his own self-doubt.

Cork O’Connor is partial to Leinenkugel’s beer.

ROBERT BAILEY’s first book combined his two great loves: law and football. A practicing civil defense trial lawyer and lifelong Crimson Tide fan, he lives in Huntsville, Alabama, with his wife Dixie and their three children. There he’s written the Law Street Journal bestselling McMurtrie and Drake Legal Thrillers series. The first two novels in the series were Beverly Hills Book Awards legal thriller of the year winners, and Between Black and White was a finalist for the Foreword INDIES Book of the Year.

Rich Blood, September 1, 2022

Billboard attorney Jason Rich has built himself a prominent personal injury practice. He prides himself on settling cases and never going to trial, but when his sister, Jana, is accused of murdering her husband, he returns to his hometown to represent her—a person he’s kept at arm’s length for years. Jana is manipulative and cruel, and made most of Jason’s life miserable. Personal feelings aside, it’s his job to follow the facts of the case, and right now, all the evidence points at her.

But Jana is his family, and Jason’s going to do his best to protect her. He may not like his sister, but when push comes to shove, he’ll defend her until the end. After all, blood is thicker than water.

Bob’s go-to snack is either peanut butter on top of a banana or, if really hurting for comfort food, a massive bowl of Fruity Pebbles. He loves cold beer, especially almost any kind of IPA or pale ale or a Yuengling lager. He does not suggest having the snack and the beer at the same time—Ha!

Our MC:

Jenny Milchman is the Mary Higgins Clark award winning and PEN/Faulkner nominated author of five novels of suspense. Her work has been praised by the New York Times, chosen as Indie Next Picks, received starred reviews from PW, Booklist, and Library Journal, selected for numerous Best Of’s including Suspense Magazine, Pure Wow and Popsugar, and appeared on the USA Today bestsellers list (once, but we authors like to name these things). In 2013, Jenny rented out her house, traded in two cars for an SUV that could handle Denver in February, and pulled her kids out of 1st and 3rd grades to “car-school” them on what Shelf Awareness called the world’s longest book tour. Jenny now speaks nationally on the literal and figurative road to a dream.
