Let’s check in to New York City’s famous St. Regis Hotel on 55^th Street. The hotel has long been a celebrity haven and is where, in 1954, Joe DiMaggio and his wife, Marilyn Monroe, had a monumental fight. But it’s also the site where in 1982 our famous dead writer, who was then working as a journalist, covered the first Romantic Times Booklovers’ Convention. But her article was rejected and that’s when she decided to write her first mystery novel.

This acclaimed author of forty-three novels wrote under four pseudonyms including her real name. Her novels were twice nominated for an Edgar, and one was also nominated for the Anthony. Her husband, also a mystery writer, won two Edgar awards for his novels and a third Edgar for his reference work about mystery writers.
