September was a month of memories. We started it off with Authors as Speakers, where Karna Bodman recalled three of her favorite authors events, highlighting how each speaker made their novel shine.
With the second Tuesday of the month came ZJ Czupor‘s On Tour with Dead Writers series. Each month he steps in to bring us clues to a long-dead mystery author—some well remembered and others not. Test your memory and investigative skills with all the clues: both those on our blog and in the newsletter.
Then, a flash of spectacular news lit our feeds: Tracy Clark won an Anthony! Go, Tracy!
The Anthony Awards are held each year at Bouchercon. Tracy Clark was present alongside Rogues Lisa Black and Jenny Milchman. Jenny wrote in after the festivities, giving us an inside look at writers conferences with Rogues in New Orleans.
Back from her conference and feeling nostalgic, Lisa Black dusted off some old boxes to retrieve the first book she ever wrote: The Haunted House, penned when she was a mere ten years old. She claims the booklet proves she wasn’t born a prodigy, but the jury’s still out as many commenters are arguing its merits. Join the conversation in The First Book I Ever Wrote.
First books packed away and returned to their secret cubbies, we welcomed another ghost—that of an old Rogue Reads guest, Michelle Gagnon. She’s in perfect health, but we thought it would be fun to revisit her reading of Slaying You with a new installment of our Rogue Reels series.
Ghosts (dead and otherwise) all disappeared, Tosca Lee gave us a glimpse into her here and now with A Day in the Life. Writing, editing, book-signing–oh my! You won’t want to miss this list of all a contemporary author does to launch her novels.
Lastly, we saw the return of Lisa Black with her second September blog, Books About Book Clubs. Turns out this is becoming quite the subgenre. Take a dive into the world of book club intrigue with her list of six books to get you (or your book club) started.
