This spring in honor of our fifth anniversary the Rogue Women Writers hosted our biggest giveaway yet—a positive Book Bonanza with other fun gifties and swag to boot. The lucky winner was chosen this week and it’s mystery author and bird enthusiast Kathleen Kaska! Huge congrats to Kathleen, with thanks for being part of our rogue-ish community, and please allow me to introduce you all with this fun Q&A:

• How did you find the Rogues?

I heard about Rogue Women Writers from Jenny Milchman. I’ve been following her blog posts and reading her books for almost ten years. I had the great opportunity to meet her when she signed books at Village Books in Bellingham, not too far from where I live. In 2017, she moderated a writer’s panel at the Mysterious Bookshop in New York City.

• Thriller, suspense, or mystery–or all three (and why)?

I love all three subgenres, but mysteries are my favorite, from hardboiled detective stories to light and humorous cozies.

• Please tell us a little about your own books!

            I write two mystery series, the Sydney Lockhart series, set in the early 1950s, and the Kate Caraway Animal-Rights mysteries. I recently tried my hand at writing a hardboiled detective novel set in Manhattan in the 1940s. I have two publishers interested and am patiently waiting for their response. When the pandemic hit and the publishing company I worked for closed, I spent the first few months writing a quirky, British detective story. What I enjoy writing the most is humor.

• How many books a year do you read?

I read about twenty-five books a year, but that doesn’t count those I review.

• How will winning this giveaway change your life, OK, maybe not that, but please share how you felt upon learning you won 🙂

When Jenny emailed me that I won the RWW giveaway, I was thrilled. Even more so when I looked over the list of books by so many renowned, talented authors, plus all the booty items. I love having a tall stack of books beside my bed. I can’t wait to dive into them!
