AUGUST ROGUE ROUNDUP

It’s a Rogue Roundup: See what we Rogues discovered, researched, and talked about in August…

As I’m sure you’re aware, this August marked the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris. Watching coverage of the games, our Rogue, Tracy Clark, was suddenly struck by how writers are (somewhat) similar to Olympic athletes. Learn about the revelation in our first blog of August.

Olympic Athletes Have Nothing (Much) On Us

Returning from the Olympics, we were stopped in our track by a dead writer! You may not know his name, but you’ll certainly recognize his works. Unearth clues to his identity on August’s installment of ZJ Czupor‘s On Tour with Dead Writers before revealing the answer at the bottom of the page. The next dead writer will be touring September 10 and answers are due to the contest email by September 20.

August’s dead writer discovered, celebrated, and reburied, we spin round to find rogue Karna Bodman sorting belongings, bubble-wrapping treasures, and stuffing boxes. She fills us in on her ongoing move–the challenges and the book which is helping her get through it–in her blog A Moving Story.

Do you hear that clickity-clack? That’s Isabella Maldonado deep in the draft of her next novel. Keys to board and headphone on. She paused for a moment in August to introduce us to the writing tool she uses to navigate the delicate balance between logical complexity and emotional depth: Binaural Beats.

We finished the month with a traditional metaphor for change: birds. Jenny Milchman brings us a brief meditation on them and their current roles in her quickly evolving life.

That’s a wrap for the August Rogue Roundup. Rogue Reads will be returning from summer hiatus on September 16! We’ll see you then and, until next time, stay Rogue.
